| 'The Great War' is published bi-monthly in January, March, May, July, September and November of each year (subscription year runs from September to September). The 76-page, A5 magazine is only available via subscription and is not available in the shops. | ||||||||||||
| This well-established, much respected magazine appeals to the widespread general interest in the Great War, and publishes contributions on all aspects of the war. No sphere of interest is precluded and we feature a wide and eclectic mix of material. Contributions in all areas, from letters and prose to memoirs and histories, are judged on content and interest to readers rather than on the ability to write well or to a professional standard - editing is applied to all features to ensure high standards are maintained throughout. Alongside the personal accounts of those who served we also publish military and service accounts and in local history aspects often overlooked by larger publications, such as the Home Front, Pals and Service soldiers and battalions, animals, women, grandfathers' and grandmothers' stories, etc. Nothing is precluded and submission is open to ALL. | ||||||||||||
| Some selected trade advertising is accepted, but space for this is limited as the emphasis is strongly geared towards providing good quality content. Please click here for our current low advertising rates. The publication of the magazine is funded solely by its subscribers, and is not viewed by the publisher as a vehicle for generating advertising revenues. Our advert design service is free of charge. | ||||||||||||
| Among the unique selling points of this publication are that it is only sold to subscribers, so our readership has a dedicated interest in the subject matter, and also that it is not sold 'retail', which means we do not have a 'sale or return' policy which requires unsold copies from each issue's print run to be pulped. In fact the majority of our subscribers also purchase dedicated binders and build their collections by purchasing back issues (thus providing longevity for advertisers) - we also have a policy of maintaining back issue stock levels and reprint as required to ensure no back issue ever goes out of stock. | ||||||||||||
